The bracelets are custom made out of 14k yellow or white gold and feature the universal medical alert symbol, the Caduceus, outlined with genuine rubies. The reverse side of the bracelet contains enough space for custom engraving of medical conditions or needs. “After surviving cancer twice, I ordered a traditional alert bracelet to inform medical professionals of several serious conditions I was susceptible to, but after wearing this bracelet for a couple of weeks, I found that it discolored with soaps and lotions,” said Melinda Lipinski, co-founder of A Med Alert Jewelry. “Upon further research, I realized that there are a lot of people out there that don’t wear these bracelets because they are either too embarrassed to be seen with one or because they are tired of dealing with poor-quality jewelry that stains their arms. That’s when my partner Janelle Marks and I decided to design a bracelet that people would be apt to wear.”
